We leave our decision in the hands of others

Generally all of us fight for our rights, especially if it is about “making decision”. We cannot tolerate that someone else takes the decision for us. But knowingly or unknowingly we give this right to others.

Here is a story about a morning.

I go swimming daily in the morning. One day around 5:10am, when I woke up, it was raining and I thought I would have to go today while getting wet in the rain but I was completely fine with that and I left for swimming. I saw the entire road was empty, no one was there. I went from in front of a park where people often do work out. But today there was no one and when I reached the swimming pool, there was no one either. And it was all because of rain.

But really, the reason is rain or we let the rain decide that today will no one come out on the road, no one will work out and no one will swim. Is it not possible to work out or swim in the rain? Of course! It is possible. It may be possible that few people have genuine reasons for not to work out or swim but it was all empty. Which was not digestible for me. But because we do not have a strong purpose to do things, we avoid it. We look for reasons not to do so. We find excuses so that we don’t have to feel guilty about not doing.

Often we use weather, situation, problems as excuses but we never realize that we are letting them decide for us.
